Resting at the Fair

We had so much fun at the fair, but needed to spend some time sitting before we raced for the bus. I think this is my favorite fair picture of them all.

Interacting with Animals at the Fair

The best part of the fair is interacting with the animals. Here are a few pictures of the children spending time with the animals.

Farmer for a Day Exhibit at Fair

This exhibit was amazing! The children really got to experience some really fun farm chores like:
milking a cow
digging potatoes
gathering eggs

When they finished doing those chores, they were able to pick an apple to eat as we walked through the fair. Some of the children even fed the unfinished apples to the camel!

ABC Art Project

We did our first ABC art project which will eventually be bound into a book featuring a project for each letter of the alphabet. Students start with exactly the same pieces, but the projects always end up looking very different. We will hang these weekly project in the hallway outside of our room - take a minute to look at them each week for a great giggle!

Fun Learning Centers

We are working on routines in our classroom. Moving from center to center is one of the routines I want to insure students learn early in the year. We practiced with fun learning centers this week.
Legos are really fun!!
We love making designs with pattern blocks too! Check out this butterfly.

School Starts Tomorrow

I'm so excited to start school tomorrow. I will be taking plenty of photos and will try to post new photos on our blog regularly.

If you see a photo that you want to have printed, you should be able to save it directly from this blog. You will need to right click on the desired photo, save it to a "Kindergarten Photos" file you create on your computer, and upload it to your favorite printer to have printed.

I hope you enjoy the ability to see some of the fun things we are doing in the classroom when you aren't able to be there in person. However, I would love to invite you to volunteer in the classroom so you get a glimpse of the amazing things we're doing everyday.

Ready for Another Year

I've been working hard to set up and make our classroom a wonderful learning environment for the new group of students I'll be getting next week.

I had a great time (although very hot) at Open House last night. Our classroom was so full that there was a line of people down the call waiting to meet me. It seems that the children as excited as me to start this exciting new year.

See you all next week!!!

These are a few of my favorite photos from our field trip last week. I will also post some photos from parents as they are given to me. I hope your child (and you if you helped chaperone) enjoyed the trip as much as I did!

We Share Everything!

Sharing 100th Day fun!!! We made the coolest glasses at one of our special 100th Day centers.

A few afternoon children sharing books at the carpet after completing their opening work.
I even captured this amazing moment where two girls in my morning class were sharing a chair.

Child Author Reads Story To Class

I couldn't be more proud of one of my students who decided to write her own story at home. She brought the story to me and asked if she could read it to the class. I told her I would love to hear it and also videotape it for our blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as the other students and I did.

Please notice that her story had a beginning, middle, and end along with a problem and a solution - amazing for a Kindergarten student!!!

Fun Indoor Recess Activities

During a recent indoor recess, several students had fun patterning with barrettes. They ended up moving from the yarn hair to real hair. Don't Miss Ashleigh and this student look beautiful with their new makeovers?
